Description

The English 2 course will continue to prepare students for collegeĀ level skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking as outlined in the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts. This course will broaden the perspectives of students as we deal with literature from a variety of sources in order to assist them in becoming culturally, technologically, and academically literate citizens within their communities. Furthermore, by interacting with classic, modern, and contemporary works, students will have the opportunity to develop their own personal perspectives of the world in which they live and apply them in their daily lives. The expectations for this course will be for high quality and quantity as students meet and exceed state standards. There will be a strong emphasis on literary analysis and building rhetorical skills in order to prepare these students for College Preparation courses in their 11th and 12th grade year. Student progress will be measured by assessments until the SBAC assessments in 11th grade.
