Junior College Preparatory English 3 is designed as a college-preparing course. It is intended to prepare the student for the English portions of college entrance tests and course work. Major focus is on American literature: primarily short fictions with a focus on the Puritanistic, Romantic, Realistic, and Naturalistic beliefs as they are revealed in major American authors. The students are also assigned readings on language-especially the English language to gain some awareness of and appreciation for the linguistic accomplishment of man. Finally, the students read and précis articles of current production and interest to see the kind of writing being done by professional authors today.
