ELD 1 & 2 (Period 1-2)

English Learners who are novice in their development of the English language and new to country are placed in ELD 1or 2 based on results of an initial assessment. For those students, this Designated ELD course is designed to develop greater fluency in English through developing mastery of the English Language Development standards. Emphasis is placed on developing foundational reading skills, speaking, grammar, spelling, and writing. ELD Strategic is designed as a support period for students in ELD 1 or 2. Emphasis is placed on providing additional language development from the Designated ELD course. Students will also work on developing foundational reading skills, grammar, spelling, and writing.
