1910-1929


September 1910 KCHS founded with first classes held in upstairs of what is ow A-1 Market

June 1913 First Graduating class of one(Mary McCormick).

September 1912 First classes held at present site.

October 14, 1922 First King City football game played in cow pasture across from present high school what is now 7-11 and the old Coast to Coast parking lot. King City coached by Principal Bill Waibel lost to Monterey,25-0.

November 3, 1923 King City's first win, 32-0 over Atascadero.

September 27, 1924 Bob Hamilton drop kicks 2 field goals and returns a intercepted pass 75 yards for 12-6 upset win over San Luis Obispo.

November 2,1924 King City beat Pacific Grove, 6-0 in Salinas for CCAL "B" Championship but lost following week to

Watsonville for overall CCAL championship. Teams traveled by train to both Salinas and Watsonville.

September 26, 1925 King City opens season with 52-0 shellacking of Atascadero. This is the second most points ever scored in a game.

September 26, 1926. Lost 14-13 to Holister in first game ever played at Forden Field. At the Time Forden Field was the most modern stadium in the CCAL with a cinder running track around a full turf football field.

November 10, 1928. Failed to score and season.

1930-1939


October 11, 1930. King City lost to Monterey 69-0 for the worst defeat in King City History.

November 11, 1934. King City beat Gilroy 7-0 to win "B" division CCAL.

November 16, 1935. King City beat Gilroy 13-7 to win division "B" of CCAL for two concecutive years.


November 13, 1937. Bill Cavalli scores 4 touchdowns in 38-0 win over Coalinga.

1940-1959


November 8, 1941. King City beat Gonzales 6-0 to win CCAL "B" division Championship.

November 12, 1943. King City beat Pacific Grove 22-0 to win CCAL "B".

November 15, 1946. King City defeated Gonzales 26-13 to win CCAL "B" Championship.

September 26, 1947. King City beat Santa Barbara (a school nearly 8 times as big) 6-0 before a crowd of more than 8000 for its biggest upset ever.

October 9, 1948.King City loses to Gonzales in first game ever at war memorial Stadium.


September 27, 1952. First game played under lights.

1960-1969


October 20, 1962 King City loses at Carmel 25-21 on last minute 70 yard pass to end it's
longest winning streak of 18 games.

September 20, 1963 Bill Pitcher replaces Ernie Piper as head coack and beats Paso
Robles 13-6 for third straight time. The 8 schools competing in the CCAL "B" now
become the new MTAL.

November 13, 1964 King City beats Gonzales 25-6 to share MTAL Championship with
Carmel, holding 6-1 records.

November 10, 1966 King City scored on last play of game against Gaonzales to seemingly
win game only to have nullified and score revert back to 0-0 tie the next day.

November 10, 1967 King City, coached by Bill Pitcher, completes undefeated season and
second consecutive league championship. The team scored 204 points and gave up only 38
during the season.

1970-1979


November 16, 1973 Bill Pitcher completes 11 years as head coach with 7-2-1 season. His
59 wins are 31 more than any other coach in history of school.

November 19, 1976 Ed Barnett completes first season with tie for league championship.

His 14-7 win against Gonzales on this date snaps a streak of 7 losses to Gonzales coached
by Larry Welsh.

September 23, 1977 King City loses to Paso Robles in their home opener 36-43. These
are the most points a King City team ever scored in a losing effort.

1980-1989


November 20, 1981 King City beats Aptos 20-13 in game played in Gonzales to advance
to CCS Division II finals.

September 10, 1982 Mark McClure replaces Ed Barnett and loses first game to
Atascadero 14-7, but switches quarterback after this game and wins 10 fo 11 remaining
games.

November 26, 1982 King City beats North Montery County 26-19 in Championship of
CCS Division II. Then win their tenth of the season. This is the only time King City finished
in double figures in wins.

November 27, 1983 King City beats Harbor 7-0 at Cabrillo College for second
consecutive CCS Division II Championship.

November 1984 King City defeats Alisal 55-0 for most points ever scored.

November 1986 John Wilkinson rushes for 307 yards in 27-9 win over RLS.

November 1986 Cy Barbree throws 5 touchdown passes and completes 8 of 12 for 276
in 42-22 win over P.G.

November 1987 King City loses to Soquel 19-14 in CCS Division II playoffs.

Questionable use for the clock in remaining moments of game allowed Soquel to score
winning touchdown.

Ocotber 1989 Game with Harbor cancelled because fo earthquake.

1990-1999


September 1990 Donnie Burkman and Ray Green connect on last minute pass and Chris
Saldivar's 45 yard field goal, which leads K.C. to 22-21 upset of Atascadero. This way
only win in 12 tries under Mark McClure over Larry Welsh's Atascadero!

October 1990 P.G. and King City game ends in tie, but King City wins California tie
breaker, which puts them in second place to go to CCS division II playoffs.

November 1990 King City loses to Watsonville 12-7 in playoffs. Donnie Burkman
intercepted 5 times.

November 1992 King City finishes league in second place but loses to Wilcox 28-3 in first
game of CCS Division III playoffs.

November 1993 King City defeats Burlingame 10-7 to advance to finals of CCS Division
III.

November 1993 Mark McClure completes 12 years as head coach with the most
wins-67, surpassing Bill Pitcher's 59.

November 1994 Brian Kirkpatick passes for 2418 yards breaking John Wiley's season
record of 1900.

November 1998 Oscar Mendoza rushes for 354 yards against P.G. breaking Mark
Villanueva's record of 319 set in 1995.

November 1999 Trask Munoz and Matt Garcia both rush over 1000 yards each, first to
do this in King City history.

2000's


September 2000 Twenty Six first downs against San Jose. First time in King Citys Histroy.

November 2000 Steven Lopez, Jessie Rodrigues, And Delfin Antonio, all ran for over
100 yards, in a single game vs Soledad, First time in King City History this has been done.
